The Section of Abdominal/Body Imaging at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has an unexpected 1-year, non-ACGME, fellowship opening starting July 2023.


· Instructor appointments is paid up to $110,000 per year, plus $3,000 educational stipend and internal moonlighting opportunities

· Four weeks paid vacation

· One week of paid attendance at a nationally recognized meeting and 2 additional days at the RSNA meeting in Chicago

· Training in 1-week blocks through 4 core rotations (41-42 weeks):

o Body MR

o Body CT

o Ultrasound

o Body Float (CT, US, and MR)

· Plus, numerous available electives allow the year to be tailored to your interests or future practice needs (10-11 weeks):

o Radiology Procedures

o Musculoskeletal MR

o Fluoroscopy

o Community General Imaging

o Body ED/Evening


o Chest/Cardiovascular Imaging

o Additional body MR, body CT, or ultrasound

· Graded shift to independent interpretations of CT and ultrasound examinations; MR examinations are staffed with faculty throughout the year

· Dedicated fellow lectures, fellow interesting cases conferences, and participation in multidisciplinary conferences throughout the year

· Research and/or quality improvement project opportunities for those interested

· Moonlighting: evening shifts for IV contrast monitoring at some of the outpatient centers


Body MR

· All MRs of the abdomen and pelvis

· Busy oncologic MR service, including hepatobiliary, pancreatic, renal, rectal, gynecologic, and prostate cancers. High volume of pre-and post-treatment imaging for liver-directed therapies, radiation therapy, and oncologic surgeries.

· Also, MR elastography, benign female pelvis MR, pelvic floor MR/MR defecography, emergency MR, MRA/MRV, MR urography

· >15 clinical MR magnets, including several top-of-the-line 3T GE and Siemens scanners

Body CT

· Diverse caseload, including high volume of oncologic and non-oncologic CTs. Busy cancer center, level 1 trauma center, and transplant service.

· State-of-the art GE and Siemens CT scanners. Routine use of dual-energy CT and deep-learning image reconstruction.

· Dedicated 3D lab performs image post-processing


· Abdominal, pelvic, small parts, and vascular ultrasound

· Liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant ultrasounds; shear wave elastography

· Perform thoracenteses, paracenteses, and thyroid and cervical lymph node FNAs

Radiology Procedures

· Soft tissue biopsies using CT and/or ultrasound guidance – abdominal organ, intraperitoneal/retroperitoneal lesions, and lymph nodes

· CT- and/or ultrasound-guided percutaneous and transrectal/transvaginal drainage procedures

· Advanced Radiology Procedure clinic streamlines consultation and is coordinated by radiology extenders, including dedicated MAs and NPs/PAs

· Siemens Edge 64-channel interventional CT with rapid fluoroscopic CT imaging, 3D CT guidance, and automatic needle tracking capabilities

Musculoskeletal MR

· Both outpatient and hospital-based settings

· Imaging for the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks

· CT- and ultrasound-guided soft tissue/bone biopsies are optional

· Sports medicine and orthopedic oncology conferences are optional
